On our Stories page, we have put the call out for you to share a story, observation, or idea (big or small) on how you re-imagine downtown Vancouver. In addition to the longer stories that we have been featuring, we have also received several shorter submissions. Here are some of these “quick takes.”
I would like to see futuristic link to great green nature , like a dedicated monorail into and around downtown into Stanley park through the trees, connecting to Pacific Station at Main all inter-paid through the Compass system.

I have my Oriental medicine practice in downtown since 2008, serving people work or live downtown. So we often talk about events or news here. I like working here to feel the growing of the city. Through economic crisis and 2010 Olympic, lots of happening here. Nice to be part of it.

Ban private vehicle ownership. Implement more forms of transit. Automated taxi fleets using self driving cars that can be summoned at kiosks or by smartphone for snobs that don’t want to ride the bus with the rest of us poors.
Bicycle sharing and bicycle only paths. More pedestrian paths. Demolish the parkades, and put in something with some actually value. The city should be where people live, work, and play. Not a place for cars to live, work, and play.

I think it is very necessary to have New Year’s Eve celebration. In order to save money for this, three-day fireworks should be cancelled (same thing every year is getting boring). Instead have fireworks on NY’s Eve. We can also have one at David Lam Park in Yaletown. This could be a family oriented party. Also, have some award shows in Vancouver with celebrities like in Toronto; there even TIFF is such a big celebration.
